Before planting
- Use it where a low rounded form is wanted; it will not create a tall screen.
- Choose moist but well-drained soil and protect a young plant from persistent drying wind.
- Keep it away from continuous dry fuel paths beside combustible structures.
Why choose it
- Maintains a naturally neat globe with little or no pruning.
- Adds year-round structure to rock gardens, low borders, entrances and large containers.
Care
- Water regularly while the roots establish and during prolonged dry periods.
- Remove only dead or damaged sprays; routine shaping is normally unnecessary.
- Clear dry dead material from inside the plant and do not leave prunings around the base.
Good to know
- A bronze tint in winter is a normal seasonal response, not necessarily a sign that the plant is dying.
